Environmental Portraiture

The What and Why of ‘Environmental Portraiture’ (see slideshow below)

In the beginning, architects were my intended audience.
It is the culmination of their vision that most attracts me.  The shapes, shadows and spaces of their creation draws my eye and my photographic inspiration.
But clearly, architectural design requires not only inspiration, but execution.  So clearly, I invite builders, preservationists, interior designers and all members of the various disciplines that together, create – the art we live in.

Environmental Portraiture is all about  putting, you – in your place.
To frame you, within the context of your life.

You are not merely a face. And neither should your portrait be.
Together we can record something beyond a likeness, something more essentially, organically – you.

Arnold Newman, the father of environmental portraiture, refers to the concept as, “The portrait of a personality . . . “.   And the difference between person and a personality, is a distinction that will shape the outcome of our photo session from the ordinary to an inspiring statement of your individuality.

In the architectural  setting, you will be, quite literally, in your element – in a space as defining as your own personality.
The portrait we achieve together will capture the essence of -  who in the world you are.

The resulting photograph, a lasting moment of your inner self, will be a strongly composed work of art and a statement about you more eloquent than words.

I look forward to receiving your call or email to discuss a project together.

Very sincerely,

Bob Estremera
